COURSE INTRODUCTION
Many issues in society today demand an understanding of chemistry if informed, educated decisions are to be made. You don't have to be called a chemist to have a job that requires knowledge of chemistry.
In 30S Chemistry, physical and chemical properties and changes in matter are studied, emphasizing chemical reactions: how, why and what quantities of chemicals react together. Other topics include solubility, gas laws, and organic chemistry.
The study of equilibrium is the primary focus of 40S Chemistry. Topics include the Quantum Mechanical model of the atom, electron configuration, the Periodic Table, kinetics, electro-chemistry, and chemical, solubility, acid-base equilibria.
Grades earned in 30S and 40S Chemistry are based upon homework, class work and assignments, labs, tests, quizzes, and a comprehensive final examination.
